Although an American invention, chocolate chip cookies have become a favorite among Venezuelans in recent years.
Chips Ahoy, from the US transnational Nabisco, were for a long time the most widely sold chocolate chip cookies in the country, until the release of other versions such as those produced by Polar, with its star product Toddy.
But thanks to the growing line of confectionery from Venezuelan chocolate brands such as Krön and Chocolates El Rey, among others, it is increasingly easier to make this recipe at home with the best flavor of our cocoa.
Here is the recipe for chocolate chip cookies from Venezuelan pastry chef Kristina Wetter:
- Butter for the baking tray
- 120 grams of butter
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 egg
- 1 and 1/2 cups of wheat flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup chocolate drops
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
First you must preheat the oven to 350° F / 175° C and prepare a tray with butter.
In a bowl, beat the butter with the two types of sugar until the mixture is creamy and then add the vanilla and the egg.
Then add the wheat flour and the baking powder, and finally add the chocolate drops and the chopped nuts.
Mix by hand with the wooden spoon and with the help of two teaspoons drop the dough in the form of balls in the prepared tray.
